sQuid
®
sQuid is a versatile digital financial inclusion platform; a secure, end-to-end digital transactions platform enabling payments, remittance and microfinance as well as non-financial transactions like attendance monitoring and traceablity.
Users are onboarded easily with a simple but effective digital identity management process and issued with a digital account, accessed with a smartcard, smartphone app or biometric identifier. sQuid accounts can hold multiple digital wallets that access the sQuid payments network and integrate with sQuid Android merchant terminals as well as a wide variety of POS tills and standard RFID or NFC card readers. sQuid® delivers multiple purses in one wallet, to enable multi-scheme use and loyalty.
sQuid currently processes more than 10 million transactions a month for education, humanitarian and microfinance communities in the UK, Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia and Myanmar. Transactions are fast, secure and cost effective for operators, who include international donor organisations, NGOs, governments, education authorities and commercial businesses.
In education, sQuid delivers best-of-breed payments and attendance monitoring to school and university campuses with efficient settlement, integration with the back office and e-commerce shops, all combined with a great user experience.
In 2012 sQuid launched the first e-money 'pay as you go' wallets on transit smart cards for operators of UK ITSO ticketing schemes and in 2014 launched its iMlango education network in Kenya, funded under the Girls Education Challenge by the UK Department of Foreign Investment & Development (DFID).
During 2015-18 sQuid built out its network in Kenya, launched humanitarian programmes for MercyCorps and Save the Children in sub-Sahara Africa, launched an international remittance service with Dehabshiil in Somalia and introduced its microfinance platform to Myanmar with PACT.
In 2020, sQuid launched iMukoko in Nigeria, with a World Bank-funded UBEC programme to help marginalised communities improve children’s education and family livelihoods in northern Nigeria.
